MALDON SHOWROOM
Company: SUB ZERO & WOLF
HoodS: BESPOKE CEILING HOODS
tailor-made
The ultimate compliment for Westin as a company, and for Westin products, is being asked on a daily basis to produce tailor-made extraction for domestic cooking equipment with professional specification. This compliment is taken up a level when we are asked by appliance companies themselves to tailor hoods to their exact requirements.
This was the case when Westin were approached to manufacture extraction for the stunning and highly specified Sub Zero & Wolf showroom at their headquarters in Maldon, Essex.
Sub Zero & Wolf UK had been based in premises in Loughton, Essex until 2012, but space was an issue for a company that had rapidly outgrown their current footprint. The decision was made to relocate locally to a more suitable home with scope to expand in size, and realise the vision that MD Craig Davies had for the premises as a multifunctional space.
finesse
The company wanted to match the finesse of their exclusive Kensington showroom at their new head office, and saw an opportunity to host events on a similar scale to Kensington for clients outside of the M25.
Premises were located in the historic town of Maldon, that ticked all the boxes. The premises were renovated from top to bottom to create a welcoming reception leading to the showroom with offices above, along with a sizeable warehouse including mezzanine areas that houses 80% of UK stock. This area was to include a dedicated parts department who manage components for the UK and EU.
The resulting painstaking renovation and specification of the showroom and offices are spectacular.
The result
The showroom, complete with bar, meeting and presentation areas and even an iconic red phone box, is perfectly suited to showcasing both the Sub-Zero refrigeration, and Wolf cooking range of products. Above the state-of-the-art Wolf dual fuel ranges, both complete with infrared teppanyaki’s, are situated two bespoke Westin ceiling hoods designed to suit the cooktops perfectly. An “inverted V” shape was incorporated into the baseplate as a fume catchment area to ensure there are no limits to cookery demonstrations, and the room remains fresh and smoke free.
The perfect finishing touch to this luxuriously elegant space was added with the propeller of a Spitfire, suspended in an open space between the offices and the showroom below. A nod to the premises former past as a WWII aircraft hangar.
