BESPOKE dESIGN
This project consisted of a complete interior design, interior architecture, architectural, lighting and landscape design scheme for this detached family home in Hampstead, London.
The brief was for a complete redesign and reconfiguration of the spaces both internally and externally, with major structural amendments resulting in a completely redesigned and reconfigured home.
The project included many bespoke pieces in a range of unique and interesting textures and finishes; including many items of bespoke fitted joinery; a large bespoke kitchen; and bespoke freestanding furniture.
LLI Design carried out all the design work for the project, with many of LLI Design’s projects, their sister companies Pegasus Property and Pegasus Automation carried out the Construction, Joinery and Audio Visual & Home Automation aspects of the project.
In addition to the interior, architectural and landscape elements of the project LLI Design produced an intricate layered lighting design which complemented the overall design scheme.
Great care was taken to specify luminaries (light fittings) with a 2700k colour temperature (a warm white colour temperature), high CRI (Close to sun light colour rendering) and flawless dimmability via the Lutron DALI lighting control system. It was also important that the downlights were baffled to reduce the glare.
Lighting uniformity
The hob of the central kitchen island required good task lighting which needed to fulfil the above criteria. Being that the Westin ceiling hood was almost the same dimension as the hob below, the task lights needed to be integrated into the extractor body itself.
To this end LLI Design worked closely with Westin and the downlight manufacturer Colour Box Lighting to produce a stainless steel version of Colour Box’s downlight to complement the manufacturers lighting used elsewhere in the project. These stainless steel downlights were integrated perfectly into the stainless steel Westin extractor.
This meant the extractor fan lights could now be controlled via the Lutron DALI lighting control system and that they had the same light quality as the rest of the lighting fittings in the scheme.
The result
The Lutron lighting control system was also integrated with the Savant Home Automation control system which controls all Audio Visual and Home Automation elements in the property including distributed audio and video, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) control, lighting and automated window treatments.
The result is not only an incredible contemporary luxury space, but a space that can be completely controlled and easily adjusted by the homeowner.
