On the doorstep of deVOL’s Cotes Mill home in Leicestershire, lies leafy Stoneygate in Leicester, its streets lined with beautiful period properties, is the perfect place to settle. On one of these quiet roads is Rumy and her family’s home, an elegant Edwardian house that has been renovated and updated to feel fresh, bright and supremely calm and clutter-free.

For this home, in keeping with the style and remaining sympathetic to the beautiful property, crisp and clean Shaker cupboards were selected by the customer after consultation with the deVOL team. The Shaker kitchen was painted in a stunning, bright and light Damask shade, and the kitchen was accented perfectly with touches of natural oak in the form of individual pieces of the deVOL Haberdasher’s furniture range. This combination of wood and light paintwork is so refreshing and such a welcome change. The white cupboards and walls have really brought out the best in the other deVOL elements, including the handmade Crackle Metro Tiles, which draw attention to the delicate variations in tone, a detail that often goes unnoticed in more contrasted and colourful spaces.

The much-loved deVOL Gaselier pendant lighting over the island adds a classic touch, an aspect of this kitchen design we absolutely love, mixing styles and mixing cupboards but within a very restricted colour palette. This allows creativity with a touch of the eclectic, without fear of overdoing it. By combining the two ranges, this also offers a contemporary twist on a classic, traditional kitchen. Harmoniously combining contemporary and traditional styles is perfectly highlighted here with the Aga, a very farmhouse-style range, yet in white and surrounded by clean, light cupboards, it suddenly becomes so chic and modern.

The customer chose the Westin Prime built in hood for it’s versatility, and housed this in their own handmade, classic style. The Prime’s discreet appearance combined with powerful extraction, was the perfect choice for a classic kitchen designed with the beautiful cabinetry and accessories front and centre, rightly allowing these items to shine, rather than the area be dominated by appliances.
